The mechanics ........of running.
Some interesting reading.
http://www.brianmac.co.uk/economy.htm
Been looking into stride length / free range of movement.
Think about this for a minute......................
We take about 180-200 strides every minute.
Imagine if we improved our stride length by just 2cm. (less than an inch)
Let's do the maths :
0.02m * 180 = 3.6m extra distance for every minute. It doesn't sound much but read on.
For every 1km that's 36m
10km it's 360m
Half marathon about 800m.
Now convert that into time ...........
36m might be 8 secs
So over 10km it would be 8*10 =80 secs or 1 min 20 faster for a 10km.
Half marathon ? Possibly 3 minutes faster.
It makes you think.
I feel we need to get more flexibility into our training.
Maybe one night a week we meet and do some "proper" stretching.
See you tonight !

Re: The mechanics ........of running.
To be honest Joe you are fast enough.
But I would be up for that as part of our Tuesday night sessions.
See y'all at Annan tonight, I put some signs up this morning to guide you all on your way.
Hope nobody tampers with them
