Went a run today in the Black Esk forest.
You can't beat running away from all the traffic.
Only a few icy patches otherwise it was fine.
Did 11.06 miles and found some interesting stuff on altitude for you guys to look at.

Here's the run. It wasn't a fast run really but the altitude gains made it really difficult so that was good as well. Funnily enough the temp in Lockerbie was 0c and at 750ft it was 3c - temperature inversion at it's best !

Enjoy.......have a look and if you want me to give you a guided tour let me know.

Also here's some stuff on altitude gains and the effect it has.

The run I did gained 750ft throughout according to the Garmin but could probably be even more than that as it measures each mile's gains rather than half mile etc.

Have a good read.

Have to get back out there in the new year for marathon preparation.
We were at Brownmoor and underfoot was similar.
