Carlisle Tri 10k
Thoroughly enjoyed this. No PB as expected but 44 minutes (7.03 min/mile average on the Garmin) was the 'fastest' I've run for months
The route is an interesting one. The first mile is fairly straight and flat (good for getting into the right pace), mile 2 is a climb, but miles 3 and 4 are mainly downhill (so it's maybe worth maintaining your pace on mile 2 as you can save energy here), miles 5 and 6 are undulating, including a wee hill on the last mile, and it's a flat finish to the welcome sight of Carlisle race course. Look out too for a sharp bend just before 4 miles and slow down as you approach it or you'll have to put on the brakes.
Although this was a 10k, numbers were clearly painted on the road at each mile, very welcome.
I believe the first 3 places went to Keswick runners.
